The first line on our home page mentions that we are a 150 year old building. Still, some people walk in and ask us where the elevator is! The Gables Inn is a genuine 19th century farmhouse with creaky floors, some are even a little slanted, plaster walls and original wood beams. People who love it here feel the place exudes warmth and charm. However, it does not scream shiny and new. I guess if you think an old building should resemble the Vanderbuilt Mansion we might not be the place for you. If, on the other hand, you're looking for an inn that is charming, unique, maybe a little quirky-you might even say typically Vermont, that's who we are. 5 star amenities, more crystal and lace than birch and pine? That's just not us. The Gables is a traditional Vermont inn, we serve great food, we're in a unique building and you'll be greeted as a friend and made to feel at home from the moment you walk through our door; if that's what you're looking for we think you may have found it.
If you do choose to stay here, and we sincerly hope that you do. You have our word that we will do everything possible to ensure that you enjoy your time with us.
